Perhaps it’s not the right time for him to change or perhaps he needs a little bit of push from behind to allow him to move forward. I personally think that your friend would need to mix with people that are like minded to expand his social network in order for him to step out of his circle.

I would suggest that this friend could just open up his mind and look around as there are better things in this world which, perhaps would be more valuable. Family is important but a happy and meaningful life is all about BALANCING and each and every aspect of life such as friendship, career, health, family and most of all, personal development is equally important. One may rank each of them differently and there’s nothing wrong with that. Just that a little bit of balancing would do the tricks…

If your friend is looking at this, perhaps he may or may not think, NOW, that is this the kind of life that he may or may not want to be in. I believe sooner or later he WILL start to understand what you meant when he looks beyond 3 to 5 years from now about where would he be, what would he be doing and would he be happy on missing out the great fun all the people are enjoying. He may or may not but is there anything wrong with that?
